Job description

OVERVIEW

Job Title: Student Catering Attendant & Bartender

Locations: St. Paul & Minneapolis

Pay Rate:$16.50/hr

Hours: 7 days a week, starting as early as 6am and going as late as 1am

Average shift length: 4-6 hours 

Some however may be as long as 10 hours

JOB SUMMARY

On-site attendants that assist the Catering Team in all aspects of the operation on both the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses.  The Catering Attendant position is very client service oriented.  The primary role is to execute events, including preparing for events, set up, service, and tear down/cleaning after events.  The complexity of each event varies depending on the clients' needs.  St, Thomas Catering manages events ranging from small takeout orders to large galas and banquets with formal plated meal service and everything in between.  This is a very physically active position that requires regular walking/pushing of carts across campus and some heavy lifting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Preparing for events, this includes gathering supplies and making beverages while following labeling and organizational procedures.
  • Delivering and setting up events, this includes moving supplies to the event location and setting up the event in accordance with our catering standards. This also includes working with the client to ensure that they have all their needs met.
  • Running events, this includes providing food and beverage service and working with the client to ensure that their expectations are being met and troubleshooting their requests.
  • Cleaning up events, this includes gathering all used supplies and ensuring that the event space has been cleaned and returned to its pre-event conditions. This also includes returning supplies to their designated storage locations and washing and polishing dirty dishes.
  • Bartending, this includes serving alcoholic beverages in accordance with catering, UST, and governmental standards and regulations. You will be responsible for operating a cash register and managing money.
  • General tasks, this includes receiving/storing orders, washing laundry, periodic cleaning of supplies, organization of storage locations and any other tasks assigned by a Catering Supervisor.

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
