Job description

OVERVIEW
JOB TITLE: Barista-UST Coffee Shops
LOCATION: Multiple University Coffee Shop Locations Across Campus
PAY RATE: $16.50/Hour
HOURS: Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends
About the Role
Join our dynamic, student-friendly team serving high-quality coffee and creating a welcoming environment across our busy university cafés. We're looking for friendly, reliable individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced setting and providing great service.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare a variety of coffee and espresso beverages consistently and accurately
  • Deliver excellent customer service with a positive, helpful attitude
  • Maintain cleanliness of the café, including equipment, counters, and seating areas
  • Assist with restocking, inventory, and opening/closing duties
  • Work cooperatively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of coffee or barista experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliable and committed to maintaining clean and organized workspaces
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
  • Experience working in fast-paced or high-volume cafés
  • Knowledge of espresso equipment and drink preparation techniques
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
