Job Description Haitian Creole Interpreter - USCIS Asylum Interview (Onsite) Position Title: Haitian Creole Interpreter Language Pair: English Haitian Creole Location: Tustin, CA 92780 (Onsite) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Haitian Creole Interpreter to provide onsite interpretation services for a USCIS Asylum Interview in Tustin, California. The selected interpreter will facilitate accurate and impartial communication between USCIS officials and the asylum applicant while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to interpreter ethics. Responsibilities Provide consecutive interpretation between English and Haitian Creole during a USCIS asylum interview.
Interpret accurately and completely without additions, omissions, or alterations. Maintain neutrality and impartiality throughout the assignment. Follow all USCIS procedures and instructions provided during the interview.
Preserve the confidentiality of all information discussed. Arrive on time and prepared for the assignment. Conduct oneself professionally when interacting with government personnel and clients.
Minimum Qualifications Fluency in both English and Haitian Creole. Prior professional interpreting experience. Required: Previous experience interpreting for USCIS Asylum Interviews or similar immigration-related proceedings.
Strong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and professional conduct. Ability to accurately interpret sensitive and complex information. Preferred Qualifications Experience in immigration, legal, or government-related interpreting assignments.
Familiarity with asylum interview terminology and procedures. Certification Requirements No certification is required for this assignment. Relevant experience will be given priority consideration.
Compensation Competitive hourly or session-based rates. Travel reimbursement may be available for interpreters traveling from locations more than 25 miles from the assignment site. Mileage reimbursement, when approved, will be calculated based on the distance traveled beyond the initial 25-mile radius.
