Role Objective


The Managing Attorney serves as the firm's central authority on legal quality, professional responsibility, and attorney supervision across a high-volume, multi-practice immigration caseload. This is leadership and governance role. You will supervise 10+ attorneys, set and enforce firm-wide legal standards, lead RFE pattern analysis, and serve as the senior escalation point for complex legal matters and ethics concerns. The right person is systems-minded and decisive, with deep immigration law experience and a track record of implementing meaningful change in a law firm environment. If you believe legal quality should be systematized and defensible rather than dependent on individual style, this role was built for you.

Responsibilities/Duties

Legal Supervision & Authority

  • Supervise 10+ attorneys across multiple immigration practice areas.
  • Establish and enforce firm-wide legal quality standards, templates, argument structures, and review protocols.
  • Define supervision requirements and escalation thresholds, and intervene when case strategy requires correction.
  • Conduct structured legal performance and quality reviews.

Ethics & Risk Governance

  • Serve as lead authority on bar complaints and professional responsibility matters.
  • Design preventive supervision systems that reduce exposure before issues arise.
  • Audit case documentation for compliance and defensibility.
  • Establish documentation standards and red-flag triggers for elevated review.

RFE Pattern Analysis & Proactive Strategy

  • Track and analyze RFE trends across case types to identify systemic drafting or evidentiary weaknesses.
  • Develop preemptive strategy updates and practice playbooks based on pattern data.
  • Lead structured legal review sessions and partner with Legal Operations to implement improvements.

Senior Client Escalation

  • Conduct high-level conversations with concerned or dissatisfied clients when legal authority is required.
  • Provide clear, disciplined explanations of strategy and risk, and make principled decisions regarding case posture in collaboration with leadership.


Requirements


  • Active U.S. law license in good standing.
  • Significant immigration law experience across Removal Defense, Humanitarian, Family-based, Employment-based, and/or Consular matters.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising attorneys in a law firm environment and implementing strategic change.
  • Direct experience handling bar complaints or professional responsibility compliance.
  • Experience operating within high-volume legal settings.
  • Process-oriented, systems-minded, and decisive; comfortable integrating with operations without compromising ethics.
  • Six Sigma or other operations certifications a plus.
