What are uranium miners?

Uranium miners are workers who extract uranium ore from underground or open-pit mines. Uranium is a naturally occurring radioactive element used primarily as fuel for nuclear power plants. Miners use specialized equipment and follow strict safety protocols to protect themselves from radiation exposure. Their work is essential in supplying the raw material for nuclear energy production and, occasionally, for medical and military applications.

What is the difference between Uranium vs Nuclear Fuel Technician?

AspectUraniumNuclear Fuel Technician
Required CredentialsRadiation safety training, possibly chemistry or geology backgroundTechnical training in nuclear fuel handling, safety protocols, certifications often required
Work EnvironmentMining sites, processing plants, laboratoriesNuclear power plants, fuel fabrication facilities
Industry UsageMining, extraction, and processing of uranium oreManufacturing and handling of nuclear fuel assemblies

Uranium involves the extraction and processing of the radioactive element, while Nuclear Fuel Technicians focus on preparing and managing nuclear fuel within reactors. Both roles require safety training and operate in nuclear-related environments, but their specific tasks and focus areas differ significantly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Uranium Mining Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Uranium Mining Engineer, you need a strong background in mining engineering, geology, and environmental science, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree and professional certification. Familiarity with mining software (like Surpac or MineSight), radiation safety protocols, and regulatory compliance systems is essential. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are important soft skills for coordinating teams and ensuring safety. These skills and qualities are vital for efficiently managing uranium extraction while prioritizing environmental protection and regulatory adherence.

What are some common safety protocols for professionals working with uranium in a laboratory or industrial setting?

Professionals working with uranium must adhere to strict safety protocols to minimize exposure to radiation and prevent contamination. This typically includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, lab coats, and sometimes respirators, as well as working in well-ventilated areas with appropriate shielding. Regular monitoring for radiation levels, proper handling and storage of uranium materials, and thorough training in emergency procedures are essential. Team members often collaborate closely with health physicists and safety officers to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.

Job description

We’re Hiring: VP of Finance / CFO‑Level Leader

Denver, CO
Salary: $250K base + incentives

This is a rare chance to step into a CFO‑level role where you’ll architect the financial backbone of a mission‑driven uranium mining company preparing for the public markets, while solving a meaningful environmental challenge.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out?
• Opportunity to shape public‑company readiness from the ground up at a critical inflection point
• Direct impact on the financial strategy and long‑term scalability of a high‑growth mining business
• Mission‑driven work focused on abandoned uranium mine remediation and responsible resource recovery
• Meaningful ownership and influence, including full authority to build and hire your finance team (5+ hires planned)
• Board‑level exposure without the pressure of being investor‑facing
• Broad, complex accounting exposure across manufacturing, R&D, grants, government work, and international operations
• Strong foundation already in place, allowing you to focus on elevation rather than cleanup

VP of Finance / CFO Responsibilities:
• Lead month‑end close, financial reporting, and core accounting operations
• Drive public‑company readiness, including SEC reporting and PCAOB audit support
• Own and optimize the transition from QuickBooks to NetSuite
• Build scalable accounting processes, controls, and compliance infrastructure
• Support M&A integration and standardization of newly acquired entities
• Partner with senior leadership and present regularly to the Board of Directors

VP of Finance / CFO Qualifications:
• Public company accounting experience
• Hands‑on NetSuite experience (implementation strongly preferred)
• Proven ownership of month‑end close and complex technical accounting
• Background in mining, manufacturing, or other asset‑intensive industries preferred
