Field Service Engineer - UPS (Netherlands)

Location: Netherlands Field based - 80% of work in the Amsterdam region, 20% Netherlands wide.
Schedule: Full-time, with participation in 24/7 on-call rotation.

About the Role

Vertiv is hiring a Field Service Engineer - UPS to join our Benelux team. In this role, you'll work hands-on with cutting-edge power protection and backup systems, including UPS, Emergency Lighting, battery systems, and power distribution (STS) equipment. You will carry out start-ups, maintenance, and emergency repairs for our customers across the Netherlands.

You'll be the face of Vertiv in the field, ensuring that mission-critical systems run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This is a customer-facing, technical position ideal for individuals who enjoy problem-solving, working independently, and continuously learning in a high-tech environment.

Key Responsibilities

You'll respond to customer service calls, perform scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs, and manage system commissioning and start-ups for Vertiv's UPS and power systems. You'll conduct load bank and site acceptance testing, fault investigations, and remedial work as required.

You'll also deliver on-site customer familiarization training, ensure compliance with all safety standards and procedures, and maintain accurate records of your work. You'll collaborate closely with our technical teams and Call Control center, plan and manage your service activities efficiently, and represent Vertiv with professionalism and a customer-first mindset.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a self-motivated, organised, and technically minded individual with strong problem-solving abilities. You should have:

  • A qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (HNC/HND or equivalent).
  • Experience working with UPS, Emergency Lighting, or battery systems.
  • Experience in commissioning, maintenance, and fault-finding on electrical or power equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • A valid driving license and willingness to travel across the Netherlands (and occasionally abroad).
  • Computer literacy and clear English communication skills.
  • A good understanding of IT systems, communication protocols, or firmware updates would be advantageous.

Work Environment

This role involves field-based work across the Netherlands, occasional overnight stays, and participation in a 24/7 on-call rota. A significant amount of after-hours and weekend work may occur, sometimes scheduled with little notice.

You'll receive full training, modern tools, and the support of a dedicated technical network that values safety, integrity, and teamwork.
