Job description

Now Hiring:
Full-Time and Part-Time baristas for the Upper West Side location.
(204 West 96th Street, New York, NY 10025)

Green Lane Coffee is a specialty coffee shop with two Manhattan locations — Upper East Side and Upper West Side — and we're building out our UWS team.

We're looking for skilled, friendly baristas who take hospitality seriously and genuinely care about great coffee. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, take pride in your craft, and want to be part of a small but growing brand, we'd love to meet you.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for preparing exceptional beverages, engaging warmly with guests, and helping maintain a clean, welcoming café. You'll uphold our quality standards and contribute to a team culture we're genuinely proud of.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve espresso drinks, pour-overs, matcha, teas, and seasonal beverages to Green Lane standards.
  • Provide warm, attentive customer service — greet guests, take orders, answer questions, and handle issues calmly and professionally.
  • Operate the POS system to process orders, handle cash, and manage payments
  • Keep workstations, equipment, and customer areas clean and organized at all times
  • Follow food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper storage and labeling
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate supply needs to management
  • Assist with deliveries, inventory, and restocking as needed
  • Support your team during peak hours and contribute to smooth, consistent service

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of barista experience in a NYC specialty coffee shop — required
  • NYC Food Handler's Permit (or actively in progress)
  • Strong espresso and drink preparation skills
  • Ability to open and close the shop independently, including cash handling and operational accountability
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-managed
  • Clear communicator with both customers and teammates
  • Comfortable in a high-volume, fast-paced café environment

Why Green Lane

  • Hourly pay (17-19) + tips
  • Independently owned and operated — no corporate bureaucracy
  • Real opportunities to grow with an expanding specialty coffee brand
  • A team that takes quality and community seriously

Benefits:

  • Employee discount
  • Flexible schedule
