Job description

Come shape the future of American travel by joining the Brightline West team. We are working to reimagine greener, better, and faster train travel!
After Brightline Florida completed the first passenger rail system connecting Miami and Orlando, Brightline West was formed to connect Las Vegas and Southern California through the nation's first true high-speed, electric passenger rail system. Reaching speeds of more than 186 miles per hour, this 218-mile high-speed rail service will take passengers from Las Vegas to the Greater Los Angeles area twice as fast as the normal drive time.
We are looking for talented individuals to join Brightline West, who share our pioneering mindset for building something that's the first of its kind and have a bright vision for redefining the future of American travel.
SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced Contract Manager professional to join our Brightline West team. This individual will be responsible for managing the major design-build contracts, support contracts, and purchase orders associated with the civil, track, and systems construction components of the project.

  • Review and fully understand all elements of design-build contracts to be the main liaison for all stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Work closely with the Procurement and Legal department to fulfill any other contract or purchase order needs as they arise throughout the project, including creation and/or review of statements of work for inclusion in Requests for Proposals.
  • Provide effective relationship management to ensure efficient coordination between all parties, as well as promoting collaborative negotiations and settlements to avoid disputes.
  • Ensure all parties' compliance with the terms and conditions of the contracts.
  • Identify and record all deviations from the contract to support the management of claims, or potential claims, that may arise during construction.
  • Proactively monitor risks associated with each scope of work and communicate effectively with Risk Management and Legal.
  • Work closely with Document Control to ensure all documents related to the contract, including but not limited to correspondence, status reports, and invoices, are complete, sequenced, and easily accessible.
  • Ensure that active contracts have up-to-date Certificates of Insurance. Track lien releases throughout the contract term.
  • Monitor project schedule and billing to ensure work is completed on time and within the maximum cash flow established at contract inception.
  • Ensure safety, federal funding requirements (including but not limited to Buy America), third-party stakeholder requirements, and environmental compliance of all assigned contracts.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Strong knowledge of contracts and construction business concerns
  • Understanding of legal terms and conditions
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and construction plans
  • Good communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills
