Job description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Performs responsible semiskilled work in a variety of grounds maintenance assignments. Frequently operates specialized and other equipment in connection with the tasks to which assigned. Work is performed under the regular supervision.

Supervision may be exercised over unskilled workers. This position is part time and can work up to 40 hours per pay period. We do require working a varied schedule to include days, evenings, and weekends.

Must be available between 6:00am-7:00pm Monday through Friday. This listing is for two types of employment: Part-time employment and Seasonal employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS Mowing and planting grass and grounds maintenance activities; operating, maintaining and repairing equipment.

Maintains City park areas and equipment; Mows grass, edges, rakes leaves, and removes trees; Uses chemicals and fertilizer in grounds maintenance activities; Maintains mowers, tractors and equipment; Sows grass; aerates soil; trims hedges; removes fallen tree limbs; Performs related tasks as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Some experience as a semi-skilled worker in grounds maintenance.

Some experience in the operation of motorized equipment. Must possess a valid drivers license. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Some knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools.

Some knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of equipment used in grounds maintenance. Skilled in the use of equipment to which assigned. Ability to perform labor for extended periods of time, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
