Job description

AFRL plans and executes USAF programs in the areas of basic research, exploratory development, and advanced development. Delaware Nation Industries (DNI) is currently providing organizational support to AFRL at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base OH. This support includes tasks to ensure an effective Information Management concept and structure, that fosters timely deployment and optimal operation of Information Systems to support the research of the AFRL mission.

This position serves as the Senior Systems Administrator and core Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise Unix/Linux operations within a mixed-OS, Windows-dominant infrastructure.

  • Serves as the primary technical authority for Linux/Unix operations, overseeing a distributed enterprise fleet of Unix endpoints, web servers, and enterprise storage infrastructure
  • Engineers, integrates, and secures information systems across Linux and Windows domains to ensure mission interoperability
  • Administers centralized Red Hat Satellite infrastructure and orchestrates enterprise-wide configurations utilizing Ansible and modern automation frameworks
  • Enforces DoW cybersecurity compliance, executing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), integrating Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and supporting Assessment and Authorization (A&A) lifecycles
  • Directs strategic planning and provides critical technical mentorship to team members, serving as the primary escalation point for complex cross-platform anomalies
  • Evaluates and refines administrative processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maximize operational readiness

Requirements

Required:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator in mixed OS (Linux/Windows) enterprise environments
  • Must possess an active DOD 8570.01-M IAT Level I certification (e.g., Security+)
  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance (or higher)
  • Expert-level Linux server and workstation administration with a strong foundation in Windows Server environments
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 and 10
  • Advanced proficiency with Red Hat Satellite/Foreman
  • Advanced experience with configuration management and automation platforms, with a strong capability to write and manage Ansible playbooks (or translate equivalent skills to Ansible)
  • Demonstrated capability to engineer systems to DoW compliance standards, including STIG application and PKI integration

Prefer:

  • Shell/bash scripting
  • Enterprise storage administration and provisioning (S3, NFS, CIFS/SMB)
  • Extensive enterprise identity management and cross-platform authentication experience (Active Directory/Azure)
  • Demonstrated leadership or technical mentoring of IT personnel
