About the Role: Universal Language Service, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and professional Bilingual Customer Service amp; Language Specialist (Somali) join our team. This dual-role position combines real-time over-the-phone and video remote interpretation (OPI/VRI) services with administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicative, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. Key Responsibilities:
Interpretation amp; Customer Support โข Deliver real-time OPI/VRI interpretation services in Somali and English โข Assist interpreters with completing and updating profiles and documentation โข Follow up with interpreters to ensure records are current and compliant โข Maintain clear and professional communication with interpreters and internal teams โข Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and accuracy โข Coordinate interpreter assignments, efficiently manage schedules, and ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of client requests โข Maintain interpreter account records, updating information related to assignments, availability, and billing accurately โข Proactively troubleshoot scheduling issues, providing timely and effective solutions
Requirements: โข Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Somali โข Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills โข Strong attention to detail and ability to manage administrative documentation โข Ability to work full-time, on-site (MondayโFriday, 8:00 AMโ5:00 PM PST or 8:30 AMโ5:30 PM PST) โข Prior interpretation experience preferred โข Medical DSHS or national interpreter certification/qualification (e.g. NBCMI, CCHI, Other) is a plus (support provided for those seeking DSHS Medical recognition)
Education amp; Professional Background: โข Bachelorโs degree in Linguistics, Human Resources, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience) โข Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in customer service, scheduling, recruiting, onboarding, interpretation, or translation
Work Environment amp; Screening Requirements: โข This is a full-time, on-site position based at our Bellevue, WA corporate office โข Remote work is not permitted โข Candidates must pass a full-panel drug and alcohol screening and a national criminal background check
Compensation: โข Up to $25 per hour, depending on qualifications and relevant experience โข Full benefits package available, including medical insurance
