Position Summary
The Clinical RN, Nurse Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality patient care within Unity Health Care’s clinical operations. This position is responsible for supervising nursing and medical assistant staff, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and clinical standards, and implementing best practices that support safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.
The Nurse Manager collaborates closely with physicians, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to improve clinical workflows, enhance patient outcomes, and support operational excellence across the health center. This role also focuses on mentoring and developing nursing staff while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate nursing and medical assistant staff activities to ensure optimal patient care delivery
- Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
- Conduct staff performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development support
- Collaborate with physicians, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive patient care plans
- Monitor patient care metrics and lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and accreditation standards
- Support staffing, scheduling, workflow coordination, and day-to-day clinical operations
- Promote patient-centered care and maintain a safe, compassionate, and efficient clinical environment
- Assist with onboarding, training, and competency development for nursing and clinical support staff
- Address patient care concerns and support service recovery efforts when needed
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support utilization of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Foster strong communication and collaboration among interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Support organizational initiatives focused on quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and operational performance
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland and the District of Columbia required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required
- Minimum of one (1) year of leadership or supervisory experience required
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage teams and clinical operations
- Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare environments
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and patient care management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare technology systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
- Certification in Nurse Management or Leadership preferred
- Experience utilizing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred
- Experience working in community health, ambulatory care, or underserved populations preferred
