Job description

Under the general supervision of the Personnel Supervisor II, the Personnel Supervisor I (PS I) is responsible for supervising and training a group of Personnel Specialists (PS) and analysts within the Transactions Unit and performs complex and sensitive personnel projects. This includes oversight of personnel and payroll transactions including personnel actions, salary determinations, payroll, benefits, and any issues relating to these processes.
As an employee of the California Department of Food & Agriculture (CDFA), you are required to perform the "essential functions" of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Working Conditions
The duties of this position are primarily conducted indoors. Cubicle offices are furnished with modular office equipment including overhead storage, filing drawers, and bins. The incumbent will be assigned a laptop with email and various software to conduct the required functions.
This position is located in HRB and is privileged with access to confidential information. The incumbent acknowledges sensitive and/or confidential information is not to be discussed, copied, or shared with unauthorized personnel outside of HRB.
Travel by State vehicle or other public transportation systems to various locations throughout the state may be required on an occasional basis.
This position may/may not be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the CDFA and based on the current telework policy. While the CDFA supports telework where possible, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises, as determined by the Department.
