Job description

Overview
We are seeking a Progressive Care CNA, also referred to as a PCU CNA, Stepdown CNA or Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) CNA. The PCU CNA will work in our step-down unit and provide essential support to nurses by delivering direct patient care to patients who require close monitoring but more stable than those in the ICU. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.
Shift's Available: Days
Employment Type: Part Time
Hours: 6:45am-7:15pm (12-hour shifts)
Location: Providence Medical Center - Kansas City, KS

Responsibilities
**If you have experience in the Critical Care Unit (CCU), Telemetry (Tele) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or other acute care area of the hospital you are encouraged to apply!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
  • Help patients maintain their personal hygiene and comfort by assisting with daily tasks they may struggle with due to illness or weakness (such as bathing, dressing, feeding and toileting)
  • Monitor and document vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature which helps the healthcare team track patient progress and detect early signs of decline or improvement
  • Help with patient mobility by assisting with transfers, repositioning, and ambulation to prevent complications and help with circulation
  • Observe patients for changes in condition and reporting concerns promptly to nursing staff
  • Supporting basic medical procedures under nurse supervision, such as collecting specimens or helping with wound care
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, including infection control measures

Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required
  • Current BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
  • Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office preferred
