Sanipac, a Waste Connections company in Eugene, OR has an immediate position open for a Union Diesel Mechanic Journeyman to perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of 125 garbage trucks.
Full-Time Schedule
• 4/10s Schedule:
Tuesday-Friday - 1:30 PM to 12:00am
• Occasional Overtime Required. Overtime also available
💰 Competitive Compensation
Starting at $31.15- $33.97/per hour DOE
$2.00/hr additional for CDL Holders or after CDL is obtained.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Candidates for employment must meet position requirements and successfully pass post offer employment examinations including:
• Background Check
• MVR Check (Clean driving record)
• Drug screen
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Union Diesel Mechanic Journeyman to perform maintenance and repairs on our fleet of 125 garbage trucks.
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Performs diagnostics and repairs on engine, aftertreatment, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems (12V and CAN)
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record (Required)
  • 3+ year experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair
  • Provide personal tools.
  • Class B CDL OR the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information in English.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
  • Back, leg, arm and shoulder strength required to safely climb in, on and around vehicles to inspect and repair.
  • Ability to work in awkward, tight, or restricted spaces for extended periods of time; Requires the ability to sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and be able to get up and down from a supine position.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts which require following basic safety precautions.
  • The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
