Job description

Role:
The Data Analyst aggregates data into decision-ready insights for leadership and executives enabling well-informed business decisions. Working within the Data Operations Department, the Data Analyst collects and analyzes data from core banking, lending, and member-facing systems - sales figures, market and member research, operational metrics, and more. This role partners closely with Data Engineering on data pipelines and warehouse structures, and increasingly supports the credit union's on-premises analytics initiatives by ensuring the underlying data is clean, well-documented, and trustworthy.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Analyze member, financial, and operational data from core banking (DB2) and SQL Server systems to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities that support credit union decision-making.
Design, build, and maintain reports and dashboards (Power BI, Excel, SQL-based reporting) that translate raw data into clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders.
Partner with the Data Engineering and Data Operations team to define reporting requirements, validate data warehouse outputs, and ensure data accuracy across source systems.
Document data definitions, business rules, and key metrics; maintain a consistent, well-understood data dictionary to support self-service reporting across the credit union.
Perform other job duties as assigned, including ad hoc analysis in support of regulatory, audit, and operational requests.
Performance Measurements:
  1. Create intelligent, informative written and visual reports or dashboards that stakeholders can act on.
  2. Identifies and implements key measurements used in the day-to-day management of the credit union.
  3. Maintains accurate, well-documented data definitions and reporting logic.
  4. Ability to analyze data efficiently and accurately at a high level.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
