Job Overview:

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Traffic Control Driver to join our team in the Little Canada, MN area. This position works independently to transport, set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control devices for roadway and utility projects.

This is a Union position (Laborers Local 563) offering competitive wages, benefits, and steady seasonal work supporting major utility clients such as Xcel Energy & CenterPoint Energy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company truck and trailers to transport traffic control equipment to and from jobsites and traffic yards.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove temporary work zones per MnDOT, and MUTCD standards.
  • Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections
  • Follow all applicable laws while driving a company vehicle.
  • Assist with maintaining organized and clean traffic yards.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good working order and ready for field use and report any damaged equipment or devices accordingly
  • Work independently while maintaining daily communication with supervisors and dispatch
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time
  • Respond to on-call and weekend assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
    • Work outdoors in all seasons
  • Reliable, self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have good employee and customer relationship skills
  • Must have the ability to coordinate several tasks at once and work under strict deadlines
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
    • CDL preferred but not required
    • Will be a part of the On-call rotation with other current traffic control drivers
    • Assist with traffic control setups and pickups for most home Gopher Football games (Three Game minimum)
    • Prior experience in traffic control, equipment maintenance, or construction is preferred.
