Our mission is to tackle systemic barriers to healthcare and promote health equity for all. We offer a wide range of services, including mental health care, residential and outpatient substance use treatment, and primary health services. Additionally, we provide transitional support for individuals re-entering the community after involvement in the criminal justice system. By integrating physical and behavioral health, we empower individuals to overcome challenges by addressing social determinants of health, fostering resilience, and facilitating recovery.
Prototypes is one of the nation's leading behavioral healthcare providers and is a "prototype" for such organizations. Prototypes Women's Center in Pomona is a 180-bed residential facility tailored specifically to women, including those who wish to involve their children in their journey to recovery. Our program aims to assist women in maintaining their progress in overcoming co-occurring disorders through a wide range of supportive services. Children can foster a secure attachment with their mothers in a secure setting, while also accessing mental health support and educational assistance. Our interdisciplinary team of professionals provides comprehensive treatment for substance use disorders and mental health, parenting, educational, and life skills courses. Treatment can range from 60 days to 6 months.
The Client Safety Navigator (CSN) is an in-person role that fosters a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment while working with program leadership, law enforcement, and other teams to respond to emergencies such as drug use, overdose, and program disruptions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Client Care and Security- Ensure and maintain a safe and orderly environment for clients, staff, and visitors in compliance with agency and industry standards.
- Monitor security cameras, attend building security meetings, and work collaboratively with service providers and administrative staff.
- Clear areas of crowds, debris, and out-of-place items to maintain safety.
- Direct and deflect traffic, de-escalate tense situations, and maintain a positive, respectful demeanor even during high-pressure situations.
- Work collaboratively with other service providers and administrative staff to maintain an orderly environment.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and adhere to the organization's code of conduct.
- Make regular rounds to monitor entrances, exits, offices, common areas, and building perimeters.
- Work with local law enforcement and file incident reports as needed.
- Accurately distribute client money as assigned.
Client and Visitor Management- Welcome and assist clients returning from appointments, ensure sign-in, and check belongings for contraband.
- Welcome visitors, check credentials, ensure sign-in, and escort them to the supervisor on duty.
- Maintain client and visitor logs.
- Answer and direct calls or messages.
- Provide resources and information to clients and guests as needed.
Crisis Intervention and Medical Assistance- Carry Narcan, recognize signs of overdose, and administer Narcan as necessary to reverse drug overdose.
- De-escalate emotionally charged situations and maintain non-confrontational behavior during observation and intervention.
- Administer CPR and/or first aid as needed.
- Ensure client medications are securely stored and properly accounted for.
Administration and Other Duties- Document incidents in the facility log.
- Document client progress notes.
- Complete all necessary documentation in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other funding requirements to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.
- Attend and participate in meetings.
- Participate in and complete all assigned training in a timely manner.
- Read and respond to messages and emails when appropriate.
- Work weekends and holidays as needed and as scheduled.
And perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation, Certification, or Licensure- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Experience- Two years of job-related experience working with the criminal justice population or with the community behavioral health system preferred.
