Job Title:Public Safety Officer 1

Pay Details:

The starting hourly rate for this position is $25.00 per hour.

The Public Safety Officer I (PSO I) position is the entry-level security officer position, generally assigned specific security-related tasks and assignments related to OCVIBE properties, including Honda Center, Arena Corporate Center (ACC), Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), and any outlying location such as any Rinks facilities. Assignments include event security positions (door and queue monitoring, guest screening, bag check) and physical infrastructure security assignments, including high-visibility patrol, construction site patrol, and/or monitoring from a static post/position. The PSO I receives supervision from and reports up to a Security Lead through to an Assistant Security Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical screening of guests before allowing entry to the venue

  • Conduct screening of bags and belongings in possession of guests before allowing entry

  • Identify prohibited items and ensure the items are not brought into the venue

  • Communicate with co-workers and/or police personnel in the event a dangerous item is located

  • Prevent ingress or egress to or from an assigned door/entrance/exit

  • Provide general information to guests

  • Instruct guests/visitors regarding rules of conduct and prohibited items

  • Respond to incidents in or around the venue as directed, including disruptive behavior, disputes, intoxicated guests, seating conflicts, etc.

  • Monitor a position/location as directed to prevent disruptive and/or unlawful conduct

  • Conduct high-visibility foot patrols of assigned venue/facility

  • Identify unsafe conditions and/or instances that could constitute a security threat to a guest, visitor, employee, traveler, or to the facility itself and take appropriate actions

  • Communicate to Control and/or coworkers or supervisors upon any observed misconduct or criminal behavior

Skills

  • Minimum 18 years of age

  • Security experience is preferred but not required

  • Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing

  • Able to perform required physical tasks and assignments, such as standing for extended periods and consistently walking patrols

  • Able to verbally communicate effectively

  • Able to complete a written narrative report

  • Able to engage and interact with guests in a positive manner

  • Able to collaborate with co-workers across multiple departments as well as law enforcement and emergency services
