United offers a great benefits package, plenty of opportunities for growth and advancement, and an uplifting work environment in which all of our employees can thrive!A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN APPRENTICE TREE TRIMMER OR JOURNEYMAN TREE TRIMMERAn Apprentice Tree Trimmer will serve as an apprentice to a Journeyman Tree Trimmer in the operation of vehicles and equipment to assist line crews by clearing and maintain right of ways. The Apprentice Tree Trimmer will begin training in an apprentice program to acquire the skills of a Journeyman Tree Trimmer. This program takes four years to complete. The Journeyman Tree Trimmer will perform right of way tree trimming maintenance and service work on the Cooperative's distribution system in a safe manner.QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN APPRENTICE TREE TRIMMER OR JOURNEYMAN TREE TRIMMERHigh school diploma or equivalentHave or acquire a thorough knowledge of first aid and CPR; must have or acquire within 90 days of employment a Commercial Driver's License (Class A CDL)Must reside within 25 road miles of the Cooperative location where reporting to workMandatory "Crew on Watch" duty with mandatory overtime is requiredMust be able to work inside and outside in all kinds of weatherMust be able to lift 75 - 100 lbs and complete strenuous tasksAre you able to build working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect? Do you flourish with both independent and collaborative work? If yes, you might just be perfect for this position!WORK SCHEDULEThis full-time position works Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm and follows a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the IBEW Local 1464 Union that defines working hours. This position includes mandatory "Crew on Watch" duty as assigned. Overtime and holiday shifts are required in the event of an outage or emergency. This position is required to work outside in inclement weather ay any time.
