Associate Project Manager โ€“ Electric Utility
Remote | Travel Throughout NJ, DE, PA, MD & Washington, DC Region

Our expertise spans Transmission, Distribution, and Substation Engineering, along with Project Management, Construction Management, QA/QC Inspection, and Renewable Energy solutions.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Associate Project Manager โ€“ Electric Utility to join our expanding Project Management Office (PMO). This position will support utility infrastructure projects throughout the Mid Atlantic region and report directly to one of our Program Managers.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated project professional looking to build their career while supporting critical power delivery projects from project initiation through closeout.

What You Will Do
Project Management & Execution
  • Support the successful execution of utility infrastructure projects involving substations, transmission, and distribution systems.
  • Assist in managing projects through all phases including:
    • Engineering
    • Procurement
    • Construction
    • Commissioning
    • Project closeout
  • Coordinate project activities to ensure scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are achieved.
  • Communicate project updates, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, contractors, and client representatives to maintain project momentum and deliverables.
Project Planning & Scheduling
  • Assist with development and maintenance of project schedules and execution plans.
  • Partner with Portfolio Management and Work Management teams to support scheduling activities.
  • Monitor project milestones, resource needs, and integration activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Support project forecasting and contingency planning efforts.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight
  • Monitor project budgets for completeness, compliance, and accuracy.
  • Assist with capital expenditure authorizations and project budget revisions.
  • Track contractor resource utilization and support cost forecasting activities.
  • Help identify financial risks and support corrective action planning.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Ensure contracts, requisitions, Bills of Material (BOMs), Task Authorizations, and Engineering Work Requests are accurate and complete.
  • Maintain project documentation and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support project closeout activities including audits, reporting, and benefit realization reviews.
Quality Assurance
  • Support QA/QC initiatives and ensure compliance with client and utility standards.
  • Review contractor procedures and support implementation of project quality requirements.
  • Help identify and resolve project execution issues proactively.

What You Will Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within utility Substation, Transmission, or Distribution environments.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Project Management
    • Engineering
    • Construction
    • Project Controls
    • Planning
    • Finance
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.
  • Collaborative, team oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to client sites throughout NJ, DE, PA, MD, and Washington, DC at least twice per month.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP Certification completed or currently in progress.
  • Experience with project management and scheduling tools such as:
    • Primavera P6
    • Microsoft Project
    • Deltek Vantagepoint
    • Other resource planning or scheduling platforms
  • Detailed Project Controls experience is highly preferred.
