Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU / Surgical Services

Northwest Florida Community Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Services team in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The PACU RN is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from surgical procedures and anesthesia while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and clinical excellence throughout the recovery process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures
  • Provide post-operative nursing care, pain management, and patient education
  • Recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection prevention practices
  • Assist with patient discharge planning and education
Qualifications:
  • Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS and PALS preferred or required within designated timeframe
  • Previous PACU, Critical Care, ER, or Surgical Services experience preferred
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining compassionate patient care
