Job Title: Machining Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Machining Engineer to join our innovative manufacturing team. The Machining Engineer will split their time between being hands-on on the shop floor and working in an office environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize CNC machining processes using CAD/CAM software. SolidWorks experience is required.
- Lead CNC machining process development and optimization for new and existing equipment, supporting new machinery projects through load evaluation, capacity planning, and successful production launch.
- Apply advanced knowledge of machining methods, tooling strategies, materials, and GD&T to improve part quality, cycle times, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve challenging machining issues through root cause analysis, process redesign, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to implement process improvements, support production, and drive operational excellence.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in CNC machining process engineering or CNC programming.
- Strong experience with CAM software (SolidCAM preferred; SolidWorks experience required).
- Advanced understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Swiss-style CNC programming.
- Experience supporting new product introduction or process validation.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in high-volume or precision manufacturing environments.
Work Environment
The work schedule is from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with the potential requirement to work one Saturday per quarter, planned in advance. You will work alongside quality, production, and other engineering departments. The facility employs approximately 100 people and operates as a union shop, though this will not directly affect your work. The manufacturing and machining areas can be exposed to oil, coolant, and metal residue.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bluffton, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.
