Position Summary:

The SBA + USDA Portfolio Manager is responsible for servicing and monitoring SBA and USDA loan portfolios to ensure ongoing compliance with program requirements and to protect government guarantees. This role supports the continuity and stability of the SBA and USDA portfolios through effective post-closing servicing, documentation management, and ongoing monitoring activities. The position partners closely with SBA and USDA Relationship Managers and plays a critical role in maintaining portfolio performance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and supports the overall success of the credit union's government-guaranteed lending programs.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Maintain and service assigned SBA and USDA loan portfolios in accordance with agency guidelines and internal policies.
  • Monitor loan covenants, servicing ticklers, and reporting requirements to mitigate risk and protect SBA and USDA guarantees.
  • Review loan documentation, servicing actions, and financial information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate with SBA and USDA Relationship Managers regarding servicing needs, borrower requests, and support ongoing portfolio activity.
  • Identify and assess potential risk indicators, trends, and compliance concerns, escalating issues as appropriate, and ensure timely completion of servicing actions including deferments, modifications, and amendments.
  • Maintain accurate and complete loan files and tracking within internal systems.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of SBA and USDA program changes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support portfolio management, departmental objectives, and the advancement of the credit union.

Knowledge/ Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of loan files.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with internal partners and external stakeholders.
  • Strong observational and analytical abilities to identify early risk indicators, trends, and potential portfolio issues.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy within established SBA and USDA guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
  • Willingness and ability to learn SBA and USDA programs, regulations, and evolving portfolio requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and loan servicing systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in banking, loan servicing, or portfolio management.
  • Experience with SBA or USDA lending programs preferred.
