What is a Union Engineer?

A Union Engineer is a skilled professional who operates, maintains, and repairs mechanical systems—such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and elevators—in buildings or facilities, and who is a member of a labor union. Union Engineers typically work under collective bargaining agreements that provide benefits like job security, standardized wages, and workplace protections. Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and clear communication skills help Union Engineers collaborate effectively on projects and adapt to changing job site conditions. These competencies ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work, which is critical for meeting both employer and union standards.
