Job description

Brayman Construction Corporation is seeking experienced Union Carpenter Foreman to join our growing heavy civil construction team. We are looking for skilled professionals with experience supervising crews and managing formwork on complex geotechnical and heavy civil construction projects.


Schedule & Compensation:

Typical schedule is approximately 40 hours per week, with overtime available based on project demands and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

This is a union position, and the successful candidate will either already be a member or become a member of the applicable Carpenters Local.


Compensation includes:

  • Hourly wage based on Union scale and individual experience
  • Overtime pay
  • Per Diem based on location
  • Benefits provided through the collective bargaining agreement

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF UNION CARPENTER FOREMAN

The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating field crews performing heavy civil construction activities while maintaining safe, productive, and organized operations. The Foreman is expected to serve as a hands-on field leader, capable of working alongside the crew while directing daily activities.


Responsibilities include:

  • Leading crews constructing complex concrete formwork systems
  • Interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and layout
  • Coordinating pile driving support, rigging, and structural installations
  • Planning and assigning daily work tasks to meet project schedule requirements
  • Managing crew productivity and maintaining efficient operations
  • Coordinating manpower, materials, and equipment with project supervision
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality control
  • Communicating with superintendents, engineers, inspectors, and other trades
  • Mentoring apprentices and journeyman carpenters

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION OF UNION CARPENTER FOREMAN

  • Minimum 5 years of heavy civil carpentry Foreman/Crew Leader experience
  • Strong experience with formwork systems and structural concrete
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to maintaining safe work practices
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a Carpenters Union apprenticeship program, vocational school, or technical training preferred
  • Recent and verifiable construction work history required

WORK ENVIRONMENT FOR UNION CARPENTER FOREMAN

Work is performed outdoors on an active heavy civil construction site. Duties involve physical labor including lifting, climbing, bending, and working around heavy equipment and structural concrete operations.


SAFETY

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis.
