Job Description:
The job duties involve researching, writing, illustrating, and organizing ideas for Department of Defense (DoD) technical documentation (Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs)), proposals, sales, and marketing content. The individual will analyze government Data Item Descriptions (DIDs), identify required information content, conduct interviews with technical subject matter experts across the team, attend meetings, gather existing relevant source content, identify content gaps, generate required content, and produce consistent, integrated, complete documents with one-voice for customer review.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Coordinate DID requirements with contributors, and provide CDRL status information in review meetings; translate engineering content into effective CDRL documentation
• Implement consistent language that meet DID requirements
• Understand the audience and craft simple language to drive accurate understanding of complex ideas
• Communicate with one-voice; rewrite sections to change unclear or non-compliant text into readable and grammatically correct English
• Translate inputs, verbiage and technical diagrams, from various engineers into one-voice for CDRLs
• Maintain technical content configuration management library for documentation
• Ensure stakeholders clearly understand substance of documentation, and approve of technical and business positioning
• Execute through multi-tasking and prioritization to deliver high quality final products on schedule to meet deadlines; know when to collaborate and when to work independently
• Understand government customer and stakeholder documentation requirements and evaluation criteria
• Apply industry best practices to develop high-quality, compelling proposal responses that maximize the likelihood of winning
• Develop clear, concise, and compliant content that fully addresses request for quote (RFQ), request for proposal (RFP), and request for information (RFI) requirements
• Leverage strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills to foster collaboration and effectively engage with diverse teams and stakeholders
Qualifications we Require:
  • Ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • 7+ years of applied experience writing technology-focused documentation for government and commercial stakeholders
  • 3+ years of experience planning, scheduling, coordinating, and managing technical documentation and proposal content generation, and delivery, across distributed diverse teams and stakeholders

Qualifications we Desire:
  • Active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
  • At least 5 years of experience with technical-focused documentation generation for United States DoD customers
  • Proven verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills - must provide samples of excellent technical writing skills
  • Experience in all phases of government proposal development and production, and all response volumes
  • Excellent verbal, written, and illustrated communication skills
  • Mastery of English grammar, mechanics, and usage
  • Expert/Advanced computer skills (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Visio, Acrobat, etc.) or other typesetting tools
  • Experience with graphical illustration
