Job description

  • Selected candidates may be eligible for a $10,000 sign-on incentive if all qualifications are met including a minimum two-year commitment.  Current UI employees are not eligible.
  • This position will also be eligible to receive an additional advanced respiratory care services differential up to $5,000 (prorated based off percentage).

Responsible for respiratory therapy duties including oxygen and aerosol therapy, administration of specialty gases, application of ventilators, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, implement patient driven protocols, and other duties as assigned. *Respiratory Therapists must be a graduate of a Commission of Accreditation Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved program.

Percent of Time: Weekend Option (60%), 12-hour nights Saturday and Sunday rotation (1900-0730)-*50% hourly premium pay for weekend option. Position will also be eligible for evening and night differentials.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a two or four year AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program, or completion of the requirements to become registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Possess a current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Possess a current CPR certification card.
  • Obtain registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care within six (6) months of date of hire.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Greater than one year of recent ICU level experience.
  • Experience with an electronic medical record documentation system.
  • Currently registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
