Job description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. Operate dairy processing equipment including Milk Silo’s, Milk UF, Milk HTST, Milk Separator, Cream HTST, Cream Tanks, Whey Silo’s, Whey Separators, Whey HTST, Dryer CIP.
  4. Learn and execute procedures of all equipment.
  5. Adjust on all the equipment. depending on the type of product to be produced.
  6. Taking frequent readings and logging variables.
  7. Unloading check on chemicals upon delivery.
  8. Operating Clean in Place (CIP) procedures; troubleshoot and maintain machinery.
  9. Operate and clean all the pieces of dairy processing equipment that is involved with the Milk / Whey department.
  10. Communicate well between supervisor, other shifts and departments.
  11. Verify quality control items such as product samples.
  12. Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping.
  13. Operate various machines at an efficient level to fulfill plant demands.
  14. Assist coworkers with tasks and duties that are within the department as assigned.
  15. Assist with general cleaning and housekeeping throughout the plant as needed.
  16. Assists with training new employees.
  17. Aids the maintenance personnel, when needed, for machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  18. Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  19. Adhere to all Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  20. Adhere to all GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  21. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
