Dining Services Supervisor - Retail Operations

JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Dining Services at the University of Connecticut has openings for Location Supervisors in its Retail Operations. These 9-month positions are working supervisory roles reporting to the Area Manager or designee and handle all aspects of the assigned location.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises and coordinates daily operations of the assigned location, ensuring adherence to departmental procedures and service standards.
  • Organizes and directs staff at the location, assigning duties to ensure timely and efficient execution of service.
  • Leads by example while training, coaching, and motivating employees to maintain high levels of professionalism, teamwork, and performance.
  • Oversees location setup/opening, service, and cleanup/closing, ensuring quality, presentation, and timeliness of operations.
  • Monitors food quality, service standards, and presentation; promptly addresses issues to uphold customer satisfaction.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, customers, staff, and management to ensure successful coordination and resolution of concerns.
  • Upholds a high standard for all customer service interactions.
  • Handles customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and proactive manner.
  • Assists with food, supplies, and equipment orders for events or daily operations; maintains accurate inventory levels and forecasts product needs.
  • Verifies deliveries for accuracy and quality, ensuring compliance with FIFO and all food safety guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety regulations.
  • Assists with scheduling, shift coverage, payroll tasks, and provides input for employee evaluations, as needed.
  • Schedules staff to ensure adequate shift coverage, including response to call-outs or operational needs.
  • Completes product ordering as assigned following all guidelines and maintains accurate production records, checklists, and inventory reports.
  • May operate POS systems, perform and reconcile cash/credit transactions, and adhere to all cash-handling policies.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • One to two years of related experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • ServSafe certification.
  • FoodPro experience or experience with other menu management software.
