Additional Job Description:
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medical Oncology seek a Hematologist/Oncologist (MD or DO) qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Hematology/Oncology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed Internal Medicine residency program, as well as Hematology/Oncology fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in Hematology/Oncology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Wheeling Hospital: As a full member of the health system, Wheeling Hospital is part of a broad, integrated network of doctors, hospitals, clinics, and specialized institutes across West Virginia, Southwestern Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and Ohio. Wheeling Hospital has served the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, Eastern Ohio, and parts of Pennsylvania longer than any other hospital in the state. It has 247 beds, and the medical staff totals 230 primary care and specialty physicians. Two additional system hospitals provide service to this region. Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, WV has 238 beds while Reynolds Memorial Hospital has 94 beds and is in Glen Dale, WV. Other services at Wheeling Hospital include the Continuous Care Center, the Wheeling Renal Care, and the Howard Long Wellness Center.
