Plant Controller a strategic, hands-on, systems-savvy leader ready to take ownership of the P&L, elevate cost visibility, drive operational accuracy, internal controls, continuous improvement, and serve as a key advisor to plant operations and executive leadership.
The Opportunity
You will be at the helm of the full spectrum of plant-level financial management, shaping the rollout of a new manufacturing operation in an SAP environment from cost accounting and inventory control to financial reporting, forecasting, and strategic business partnership. You'll report to the Senior Controller and partner directly with Operations, Engineering, FP&A & Supply Chain leaders, delivering insights that drive margin, efficiency and growth.
What You'll Do
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Act as financial business partner to BU General Manager and plant leadership, leading financial planning cycles, including budgeting, forecasting, and LRP
- Present financial results, variance explanations, and forward-looking analyses to senior management and corporate stakeholders
- Drive financial literacy and accountability across plant functions (Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering) by embedding financial discipline into operational decision-making
- Partner with corporate finance on business unit P&L ownership and support M&A, capital investment, or restructuring analyses as needed
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Oversee standard costing system, including material, labor, subcon fees, and overhead cost structures; reconciliation of inventory to balance sheet and ledger accounts
- Lead the analysis of gross margin, cost of sales, inventory trends, turnover ratios, and production yield data
- Ensure accurate, timely close processes & audit-ready financials
- Maintain & strengthen SOX internal controls
Inventory Control
- Plan/execute physical inventories and reconciliation to SAP
- Monitor/communicate inventory movement trends & impact to P&L
Reporting & Analysis
- Develop/maintain management reporting dashboards and KPI frameworks
- Analyze variances arising from production and purchasing activities, including production order variances and PPV
- Validate GAAP and non-GAAP P&L results through detailed COS analysis
Systems & Process Excellence
- Champion key modules in SAP, ensuring data integrity & scalability
- Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
- Oversee cost allocations, activity rates, and planning cycles with precision
Leadership & Influence
- Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement & collaboration
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree with CPA, CMA or MBA highly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance with background in ramping up/transforming high-growth plant operations (computer/electronics manufacturing a major win)
- Expertise in SAP
- Deep understanding of standard costing, manufacturing cost structures, and inventory accounting
- Working knowledge of SOX/internal controls
- Strong executive communication skills you can turn complexity into clarity liaison effectively with Engineers and Manufacturing Operations leaders
- Exposure to forecasting/planning tool (Adaptive or similar)
Compensation & Work Model
Competitive base salary range: $165-175K + 20% bonus + equity
Hybrid Work model: 4 days onsite at a SoCal-based facility
