Typescript Junior Developer information

What does a Typescript junior developer do?

A TypeScript Junior Developer is an entry-level programmer who specializes in using TypeScript, a strongly typed programming language that builds on JavaScript. Their main responsibilities include writing and maintaining code, debugging applications, and collaborating with other developers to build web or server-side applications. They often work under the guidance of more experienced developers to learn best practices and improve code quality. TypeScript Junior Developers contribute to making software more reliable and scalable by leveraging TypeScript's features.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Typescript junior developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Typescript Junior Developer, you need a solid understanding of JavaScript, TypeScript, and basic web development concepts, often supported by a degree in computer science or related experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, frameworks such as React or Angular, and tools like Node.js and Visual Studio Code is typically expected. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn make candidates stand out in this position. These skills and qualities are crucial for writing reliable, maintainable code and adapting to evolving project requirements in a collaborative environment.

What are some typical challenges faced by a Typescript junior developer when working on cross-functional teams?

As a Typescript Junior Developer, you may often collaborate with back-end developers, designers, and QA testers. One common challenge is ensuring consistent code quality and type safety when integrating with legacy JavaScript code or third-party APIs. Additionally, adapting to different coding styles and workflows used by more experienced team members can require patience and strong communication skills. However, these challenges provide valuable learning opportunities and help you quickly build technical and collaborative expertise.

Entertainment Partners (EP) is seeking an Junior Full Stack Engineer to join our technology organization as part of our commitment to growing the next generation of full stack engineering talent. This role is designed for early-career engineers who are strong in their fundamentals, eager to learn, and excited about building AI-powered products that serve the global entertainment industry. The Associate Software Engineer will work on defined feature tickets, grow their technical craft through hands‑on delivery, paired code reviews, and mentorship from senior engineers, and contribute to a team that moves fast without sacrificing quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the following, other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Feature Development
  • Implement well-scoped feature tickets across the frontend (React.js/TypeScript) and backend (Python/FastAPI) stack.
  • Build UI components using React.js following established design system and component library conventions.
  • Write backend logic and REST API endpoints in Python/FastAPI under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Connect frontend and backend layers; understand how data flows through EP's application architecture.
  • Follow existing code patterns, style guides, and engineering standards.
  • Quality & Learning
  • Write unit tests for your code; learn integration testing practices with support from senior teammates.
  • Participate in code reviews — both receiving feedback on your own PRs and reviewing others' work as skill grows.
  • Ask questions early and often; communicate blockers promptly to your Engineering Manager or tech lead.
  • Actively participate in sprint ceremonies: standups, planning, retrospectives, and demos.
  • Use EP's AI coding tools (Tabnine, Claude Code) to accelerate development and learn engineering patterns.

  • Working knowledge of Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; ability to read and contribute to code in both.
  • Basic familiarity with React.js; understanding of components, props, and state.
  • Understanding of REST APIs — what they are, how to consume them, and how to think about designing them.
  • Experience with Git — branching, committing, opening PRs, and resolving conflicts.
  • Ability to write basic SQL queries and understand relational database concepts.
  • Strong curiosity, willingness to learn, and ability to receive and apply feedback constructively.
Preferred qualifications
  • Academic or personal project experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django on the backend.

  • Exposure to any cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) through coursework or personal projects.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts or experience calling an LLM API in a project context.
  • Experience working in any Agile team environment — coursework, internship, or extracurricular.
  • Hybrid work environment — Burbank, CA headquarters with structured in‑office days for onboarding and collaboration.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time at a computer workstation.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Availability during standard business hours with flexibility for team ceremonies and occasional production support.
