Job description

Schedule/Hours: M- F 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (EXEMPT)
This position is responsible for:
Maintains a thorough awareness of program operations, community needs, and trends, and develops an effective short and long-range communications strategy to ensure The Salvation Army maintains a favorable and positive image in the communities it serves. Prepares internal, membership, external, and social media marketing material for the assigned Kroc Center to include (but are not limited to): preparation of a marketing calendar, brand compliance, electronic/social media communications, preparation of electronic and printed marketing materials, photography, and narrative writing/editing.
Collaborates with leadership, and local, Divisional and Territorial colleagues to assure a seamless marketing message on external platforms, including ad placements and trades. May supervise marketing subordinates.
  • Designs, prepares, and coordinates the appearance of all print and electronic materials such as brochures, charts, posters, program guides, newsletters, e-newsletters, annual reports, and other publications; determines appropriate avenue and audience for distribution; determines methods for measuring success of campaigns and adjusts as necessary.
  • Recruits, maintains, and cultivates relationships with the media including print, radio, and television; coordinates planning meetings; develops story ideas for coverage; serves as a Salvation Army representative; represents The Salvation Army in a professional and positive manner.
  • Supports special projects and events as requested (e.g., Disaster support, Angel Tree and Red Kettles and other community campaigns

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field,
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience performing marketing and PR, journalism, writing and/or editing functions,
  • Two years of experience in social media management and metrics - or -any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications
Must have a Valid Driver's License.
