Job Summary/Description:
KFVS is seeking a The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for day-to-day, hands-on maintenance and support of KFVS's technical infrastructure for live and recorded programming and post-production. This role performs quality control checks to ensure audio/video standards are met, troubleshoots and repairs studio/editing systems, and supports production teams while ensuring compliance with KFVS policies and FCC rules.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Support all engineering aspects of the facility: studio systems, post-production/editing, field production, and live/recorded transmission.
• Perform daily troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, and installation of studio and editing equipment.
• Conduct audio/video quality control measurements and correct deficiencies to maintain broadcast standards.
• Ensure systems are fully operational before and during live events/telecasts; identify, correct, and document technical issues in real time.
• Respond to emergency technical situations and assist in breaking news, severe weather, system integrations, and software/firmware updates.
• Document issues, corrective actions, and equipment changes; maintain accurate engineering logs and records.
• Assist with planning and implementing engineering projects and facility upgrades.
• Have working knowledge of the latest operating systems software, including server and desktop operating systems.
• Familiar with networking, routing, and IP addressing.
• Maintain building-related technical needs assigned.
• Work effectively with production staff daily, providing internal customer service and operational support.
• Participate in after-hours support as required, including on-call rotations and emergency call-ins.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Working knowledge of broadcast equipment, technologies, and facility systems.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including IP addressing.
• Working knowledge of current server and desktop operating systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills; ability to think quickly under pressure.
• Self-starter with strong teamwork and communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Availability for non-standard hours, including nights/weekends and on-call response.
