Title: Intern Tutor โ€“ RTI/READING
Reports to: Director of Education/RTI/Reading Specialist
employment classification: ParT-Time Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
Tutor โ€“ Response to Intervention (RTI)/Reading Specialist is a part of the operations team at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle TN (BGCMT).ย  The Tutors are responsible for providing school and club based tutoring within metro Nashville public school-based Boys & Girls club sites.ย  This position is designed to address students identified as approaching and/or below proficient who require additional support to reach district benchmarks and state requirements to meet or exceed expectations. This position is funded through a partnership grant. This position involves ongoing and collaborative effort with the Education Director-RTI/Reading Specialist at the BGMCT, BGC club site staff, school principals, and community advocates.ย  This is a part-time position. Some travel throughout the metro Nashville area will be required.

Qualifications:
ย 
  • Working towards a Bachelorโ€™s degree in special education, education, or a related discipline (e.g., school counseling, school psychology) is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and meet deadlinesย 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skillsย 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple people as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment; demonstrates flexibility and adaptability with a sense of urgency and zeal for ensuring every student in the program has access to additional support as needed
  • Models professionalism, engages in reflection and self-led continuous improvement, and seeks out feedback
  • Bilingual, in Spanish a plus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supports the MNPS Response to Intervention (RTI) Framework for reading intervention and remediation at the elementary school level
  • Collaborate with school staff to problem solve when appropriate
  • Performs other duties as assigned
