Job description

Turner Staffing Group is seeking a project-based (approximately 30 weeks) Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to support a mining client in the Clayton, Idaho area. This position will focus on maintenance planning and scheduling for mill and process plant equipment, initially supporting restart activities while helping establish sustainable work management practices for ongoing operations.
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will work closely with site operations, maintenance, project teams, and contractors to develop executable maintenance plans, manage priorities, and ensure labor, materials, equipment, permits, and other resources are aligned before work begins.
This role requires strong hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, maintenance planning and scheduling, and work management in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review, prioritize, plan, and develop maintenance work orders in SAP S/4HANA, including labor, parts, tools, equipment, and resource requirements.
  • Develop weekly and daily maintenance schedules in coordination with operations, maintenance supervisors, project teams, and contractors.
  • Ensure required materials, permits, isolation plans, tools, equipment, and personnel are available before scheduled work begins.
  • Manage the maintenance backlog and identify opportunities to improve work readiness and execution efficiency.
  • Track schedule compliance, work order completion, and other maintenance performance indicators.
  • Coordinate closely with the project team to prioritize and schedule agreed-upon self-perform work.
  • Verify job plans, estimate labor hours, and develop planning standards for recurring maintenance activities.
  • Create and deploy effective maintenance strategies within SAP.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance planning, scheduling, work management processes, and SAP data quality.
  • Clearly communicate maintenance priorities and schedules to site operations, maintenance, project teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in job and safety planning and ensure maintenance activities comply with site safety and environmental requirements.
  • Generate reports and provide regular status updates regarding upcoming work, resource utilization, backlog, schedule performance, and maintenance execution.

Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency with SAP S/4HANA in a maintenance/work management environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement, and maintain maintenance strategies within SAP.
  • Solid experience with maintenance planning and scheduling concepts and best practices.
  • Experience working within an established work management environment.
  • Ability to develop detailed, execution-ready maintenance job plans and schedules.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance backlog management, work prioritization, and schedule compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, project teams, contractors, and site leadership to establish work priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic site environment.
  • Mining, mineral processing, mill, or similar heavy industrial maintenance experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting plant commissioning, restart, turnaround, or major maintenance activities is a plus.

Schedule & Assignment
The preferred rotation for this position is three weeks onsite followed by one week remote. The role will require significant coordination with onsite teams, particularly during restart and maintenance execution activities.
