What is a Turk?

In the context of jobs, 'Turks' often refers to workers on Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk), a crowdsourcing marketplace where businesses and individuals can outsource small tasks to a global workforce. These tasks, called Human Intelligence Tasks (HITs), can include data entry, surveys, content moderation, and more. Workers, commonly called 'Turkers,' complete these tasks for payment, making it a flexible option for earning income online. The work is usually task-based and can be performed remotely from anywhere with internet access.

What tasks does a Mechanical Turk worker perform, and how do they manage variable workloads?

As a Mechanical Turk (MTurk) worker, you'll typically handle a variety of microtasks such as data entry, image categorization, survey participation, or content moderation. The nature of the tasks can change frequently, and workload availability fluctuates throughout the day and week. Managing variable workloads involves regularly checking for new tasks and prioritizing higher-paying or more interesting assignments. It's common to work independently, but some workers engage in online forums to share tips and support. Staying organized and setting personal productivity goals can help maximize your efficiency in this flexible, remote role.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Turkish language translator?

Job description

We are looking to hire a full-time Technical Designer for DNAM Brands.

In this role, you will support the development of menโ€™s, womenโ€™s, and childrenโ€™s apparel across our portfolio of iconic brandsโ€”including Von Dutch, Ed Hardy, Trina Turk, Valentino Orlandi, and Badgley Mischkaโ€”ensuring fit, construction, and quality consistently meet brand standards. Partnering closely with Design and Production teams, you will translate creative concepts into production-ready garments through detailed tech packs, precise spec sheets, and handsโ€‘on fit management. This role requires a strong understanding of garment construction, grading, and the technical execution needed to move styles from development through bulk production.

The Technical Designer plays a critical role in maintaining consistency, accuracy, and quality across all categoriesโ€”ensuring every garment is wellโ€‘executed, productionโ€‘ready, and aligned with each brandโ€™s standards.

You must be based in or willing to commute to our office to be considered for this position.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of technical design experience in apparel across menโ€™s, womenโ€™s, and/or childrenโ€™s categories
  • Strong expertise in garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and fit development
  • Advanced ability to build detailed, productionโ€‘ready tech packs including specs, construction details, BOMs, and callouts
  • Proven experience leading fit sessions independently and making clear, actionable fit corrections
  • Deep understanding of fabric behavior, stretch, shrinkage, and wash impact on fit
  • Experience partnering with overseas factories and communicating technical direction clearly and effectively
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes from development through bulk production
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, specs, and documentation
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple styles, categories, and production calendars simultaneously
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Excel; familiarity with PLM systems strongly preferred
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive tech packs, spec sheets, grading rules, and measurement charts with precision
  • Own the fit process from first proto through TOP approval, ensuring consistency and alignment with brand standards
  • Lead fit sessions, document feedback clearly, and issue detailed, productionโ€‘ready corrections to factories
  • Evaluate prototypes, SMS, preโ€‘production, and TOP samples for fit, construction, workmanship, and quality
  • Communicate daily with overseas factories to resolve technical issues and ensure timely sample turnaround
  • Identify potential construction or production risks early and proactively implement solutions
  • Ensure grading is accurate and consistent across size ranges and categories
  • Partner crossโ€‘functionally with Design and Production to balance aesthetic intent with manufacturability and cost efficiency
  • Maintain organized, upโ€‘toโ€‘date technical files to support seamless developmentโ€‘toโ€‘bulk transitions
  • Uphold quality and consistency standards across all brands and product categories
