Position: Turf / Plant Health Care Applicator


Job Summary

The Turf & Plant Health Care Applicator is a field-based role responsible for providing professional lawn care and plant health treatments to both commercial and residential properties. This position emphasizes the safe, accurate, and efficient application of fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and related products to promote healthy turf, trees, and shrubs. Applicators follow established programs and communicate observations and recommendations to management.


Essential Job Functions

  • Provide high-quality turf and plant health care services across assigned routes
  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides in accordance with company standards and label requirements
  • Safely load, mix, and handle application materials while following all safety guidelines
  • Calibrate and operate spreaders and sprayers to ensure proper application rates
  • Complete daily routes and work orders efficiently and accurately
  • Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections and report any issues promptly
  • Monitor properties for pests, disease, and turf stress and report findings to supervisors
  • Maintain accurate records of chemical applications and completed services
  • Utilize company-issued mobile devices for documentation, communication, and compliance
  • Assist with basic yard or plant material tasks as directed
  • Follow all company safety policies and state regulations related to pesticide application and transportation


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Valid state pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
  • Valid driver's license (CDL a plus, but not required)
  • Ability to safely operate application equipment and company vehicles
  • Basic knowledge of turf care, horticulture, or landscape maintenance preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions and product labels
  • Ability to work independently in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Strong communication skills and professional customer interaction
  • Effective time management and route completion skills
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as needed


Working Conditions

  • Primarily outdoor field work at commercial and residential properties
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and landscape materials
  • Frequent walking, standing, lifting, and operation of equipment
  • Occasional shop or yard support as needed
