Job description

Job Title: Tufting Operator I
Position Summary:
The Tufting Operator I is responsible for operating tufting machinery and supporting production processes to ensure high-quality output. This role includes overseeing assigned team members and ensuring production standards, efficiency, and safety requirements are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify product specifications throughout the production process
  • Perform required weight checks on designated production rolls
  • Load, tie, or splice fiber into the creel system
  • Rotate fiber tubes to optimize creel capacity and efficiency
  • Package materials, including fiber and dunnage
  • Assist with removing and replacing fiber tubes from machinery
  • Identify and report defective or non-conforming materials
  • Inspect products for defects such as streaks, uneven lines, loops, or missing ends
  • Repair turf products using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Operate roll-up equipment and tufting machinery independently
  • Ensure production orders are completed accurately and on time
  • Record production data and transactions in the system
  • Label and handle finished rolls properly
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications:
Experience & Skills:
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in creeling and mending processes
  • Ability to lead and support team members in achieving production goals
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Basic math skills required
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members and supervisors
  • Receptive to feedback and able to apply constructive criticism
Work Environment:
  • Work is performed onsite in a manufacturing/production setting
  • Regular attendance is required
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for handling materials
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Capable of bending, kneeling, climbing, and performing repetitive motions
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception
Reporting Structure:
  • Reports directly to the Tufting Manager
  • May receive direction from a Tufting Lead
Additional Information:
  • No travel required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
