Job Title

Manufacturing Supervisor- Tufting

Position Overview

Shaw is hiring for a Tufting Supervisor to support the Tufting Department at Plant WD in a supervisory capacity on 2nd shift by continually monitoring the appropriate shift operations and ensuring compliance with all Company, Plant, and Departmental guidelines and procedures.
Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison between Department Manager and employees by providing an effective line of communication within the department.This includes assisting employees in resolving any job-related issues or concerns, and properly referring employees to Department Management or HR as needed.
  • Ensure all SMS job procedures are effective and utilized to consistently produce quality tufted goods.
  • Ensure that department machinery and equipment are well maintained, and needed repairs are executed promptly.
  • Responsible for developing personnel assignments for the shift and maintaining the proper crew assignments to effectively meet required standards.
  • Support and follow Environmental and Safety procedures and programs.
  • The Tufting Supervisor will assist the Production Planning Department and Department Management in the scheduling process for the department. This would include ordering yarn and setting up departmental and plant test procedures prior to running mixed lots as needed.
  • Complete the appropriate paperwork needed to effectively monitor and record departmental productivity, quality, and performance.
  • Attend and/or conduct periodic departmental meetings.This includes leading a weekly First Day Back (FDB) meeting for the shift to review important communications and shift performance relative to Department and Plant goals.
  • When the need arises, perform or delegate the performance of any of the various jobs or procedures within the department while referring to the appropriate SMS Instructional and Procedural documentation.
  • Conduct Safety and Quality audits as defined in the Supervisor's Leader Standard Work requirements and address any findings appropriately.
  • Responsible for product set-up approval and conformance to standards for each production order within the Tufting Department.
  • Responsible for the containment of any non-conforming production, including quality reviews of tufted and finished rolls to determine proper disposition of the production.
Education:
  • High School diploma / GED
  • Experience as a trained relief supervisor or supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting preferred
Experience:
  • Experience in carpet manufacturing and ability to identify carpet defects
