Job description

Job Summary:
The purpose of the Warper Creeler is to safely maintain creels of yarn so warpers can efficiently produce first quality beams of yarn for the tufting machines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Hang yarn on creel visually checking case labels and tube labels.
  • Splice ends of yarn using an air splicer.
  • Remove empty tubes from the creel and neatly stack them in a box.
  • Remove packages of yarn from the creel.
  • Neatly stack skinner cones in boxes for sale.
  • Neatly stack packages of yarn in a case to be shrink wrapped and put back into inventory occasionally.
  • Thread ends of yarn back through creel guides to the warper overhead
  • Clean, sweep, and/or blow down work area keeping it clean.
  • Run the warper during the Warper Operator's break periods

Performance Expectations (if applicable):
  • Lifting cones of yarn weighing 5 to 16 lbs at different rates based on creel needs
  • Must be able to push yarn dollies/ cart loaded with yarn through the creel with a max weight of 450 lbs.
  • Standing is required approximately 7.5 hours of shift.
  • Reaching is required to thread up warper multiple times per shift.
  • Bending is required to thread warper multiple times per shift.
  • Must be able to use air splicer with a trigger hundreds of times per shift.
  • Must be able to use scissors and snips throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors and shade differences.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, and kneel.

Experience/Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and do basic math; addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
  • Computer knowledge or data entry skills are a necessary part of the job but will train.

Other Requirements:
  • Learn and follow safety procedures and guidelines for the position and plant location
  • Responsible for making first quality beams of yarn and notifying supervisor of any quality problem.
  • Run required yardage expectations based on machine time and speed outputs
  • Overtime is required on occasion.
  • All accidents must be reported immediately.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Safety equipment must be worn as required.
  • Report to management any quality, safety, or potential problems encountered while performing the job.
