Job description

Overview

The Technical Surveillance Countermeasures Specialist executes Technical Surveillance Countermeasures mission activities in support of Defense Threat Reduction Agency security and counterintelligence operations. This position conducts Technical Surveillance Countermeasures surveys and inspections across continental United States and outside the continental United States locations, providing time-sensitive response capabilities to protect sensitive facilities and information from technical surveillance threats. The specialist maintains technical proficiency through mandatory annual training requirements and contributes to the overall counterintelligence posture of supported organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute Technical Surveillance Countermeasures missions including technical surveys, inspections, and vulnerability assessments at designated facilities.
  • Provide time-sensitive response support for emerging technical surveillance threats and urgent mission requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation and reporting for all Technical Surveillance Countermeasures activities in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform accurate and timely data entry into designated government databases and tracking systems.
  • Complete a minimum of 40 hours of Technical Surveillance Countermeasures-related professional development training annually to maintain technical currency.
  • Travel up to 50% within the continental United States and outside the continental United States to support mission requirements at various government installations.
  • Coordinate with counterintelligence personnel to integrate Technical Surveillance Countermeasures findings into broader threat assessments.
  • Maintain and operate specialized Technical Surveillance Countermeasures equipment in accordance with technical standards.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Interagency Training Center Practitioner certification required.
  • Completion of 40 hours of Technical Surveillance Countermeasures-related training annually.
  • Current First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and Automated External Defibrillator certification.
  • Meet all requirements outlined in Department of Defense Manual 8140.03 for cyberspace workforce qualification.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or other U.S. Government security and counterintelligence operations.ย 
  • Valid U.S. passport with no restrictions.
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Technical Surveillance Countermeasures certifications beyond Interagency Training Center Practitioner level.
  • Experience with multiple Technical Surveillance Countermeasures equipment platforms and emerging detection technologies.
  • Additional language skills relevant to outside the continental United States mission locations.
  • Prior experience supporting Department of Defense or Intelligence Community Technical Surveillance Countermeasures programs.
  • Familiarity with Defense Threat Reduction Agency mission sets and organizational structure.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Job Location:

Primary duty location is Fort Belvoir, Virginia, within the National Capital Region. Position requires up to 50% travel to continental United States and outside the continental United States locations in support of Technical Surveillance Countermeasures mission requirements. Remote work is not authorized for this position.

Physical Requirements: Ability to travel extensively via commercial and military air transportation; carry and operate Technical Surveillance Countermeasures equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; perform duties in various physical environments, including confined spaces; work extended hours during mission-critical operations; and work onsite at government facilities with no telework options.
