Job description

Warehouse Safety Specialist
Location: Lafayette, IN (On-site)
Travel: Up to 25% (approximately one week per month)
Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000 DOE
Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Warehouse Safety Specialist to lead and enhance our safety programs across warehouse operations. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a strong, safety-first culture.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in safety management within a warehouse or industrial environment and will partner closely with operations leadership, drivers, and site teams to reduce risk, improve safety performance, and promote best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal and state safety regulations
  • Lead OSHA-related activities including recordkeeping, reporting, inspections, and hazard mitigation
  • Maintain current knowledge of safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Administer safety policies, corrective actions, and risk mitigation strategies

Safety Programs & Training
  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging safety training programs for associates and leadership
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations and onboarding sessions
  • Oversee equipment certification programs to ensure OSHA compliance

Incident & Accident Management
  • Lead incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation
  • Partner with operations teams to reduce incident frequency and associated costs

Auditing & Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct facility inspections, audits, and safety assessments across multiple locations
  • Monitor safety metrics and provide regular reporting to leadership
  • Identify trends and recommend improvements to processes, procedures, and overall safety culture

Collaboration & Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted safety advisor to warehouse leadership and employees
  • Partner cross-functionally to strengthen safety engagement and accountability
  • Promote a proactive, behavior-based safety culture through coaching and communication

Qualifications
Required
  • 3+ years of safety management experience in logistics, warehousing, or industrial environments
  • OSHA 30 certification (required)
  • Experience leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Proficiency with incident reporting systems and safety documentation

Preferred
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration and/or certification
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
  • Experience training adult learners in hands-on environments
  • Familiarity with transportation equipment and warehouse operations

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods in both office and warehouse environments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Comfortable working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
