Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Fixed Asset Analyst is responsible for ensuring company assets are accurately recorded and maintained within the fixed asset system. This role supports capital project accounting, asset tracking, financial reporting, and compliance with company policies and internal controls. The analyst partners with multiple departments to ensure capital expenditures and assets are properly recorded, monitored, and reported.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Review completed projects in POPA for accuracy and prepare Construction in Progress (CIP) files for upload into the Fixed Asset system.
  • Reconcile fixed asset and related general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate and support store asset audits on a five-year cycle.
  • Prepare project-related journal entries and adjustments to ensure accurate recording of capital expenditures and invoices.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports that summarize asset activity, account balances, and trends.
  • Maintain accurate financial records by reviewing, validating, and documenting transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and company accounting policies.
  • Research and resolve accounting-related questions by interpreting policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to promote adherence to corporate controls and capital expenditure policies.
  • Assist with the setup, maintenance, and tracking of fixed assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and automation within fixed asset accounting activities to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • One to two years of accounting, finance, or related business experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience with Microsoft Access preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Experience with POPA, PDI, FAS, or similar fixed asset/accounting systems is a plus.
  • Experience working within a SOX-compliant environment and knowledge of internal controls preferred.
  • Knowledge of fixed asset accounting principles, capital projects, and financial controls preferred.
