A truss is a load-bearing structure that consists of materials being formed into connected triangles to enable the even distribution of weight. These are most commonly used in bridges, roofs, and tower buildings, but you find trusses in many different applications. Truss builders use wood and metal to design and build trusses that meet the needs of their project. In this role, your job duties include assembling pre-cut wood or metal pieces into the triangular structure, either by hand or using an overhead crane. Once the pieces are in place, you reinforce the connecting joints with metal plates, then measure each part again for accuracy to ensure the structure can provide the necessary support for the bridge or building.

Responsibilities:
- Use hand tools and power tools to build and assemble various wood trusses with metal plates on a production table.
- Read and interpret drawings, and specifications
- Measure and cut materials to the required specifications
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment
Experience:
- No previous experience in truss building required for entry level truss builder position. Workers with framing are needed as well.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and read a tape measure
- Willingness to learn how to operate a forklift
- Experience with construction, carpentry, framing, or fabricating materials is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and be able to take instruction to learn the process.
Please note that this job is on site and workers need their own transportation to get to our production plant to work every day.
