Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking skilled technicians to join our Infrastructure Operations team through the Catalyst Program - Velocity Track, designed to accelerate the development of high-potential operational talent into advanced technical roles.

The Catalyst Velocity Data Center Technician performs operational and technical work with limited supervision and is responsible for supporting hardware installations, break/fix activities, cabling infrastructure, inventory operations, and technical troubleshooting. Technicians at this level are expected to demonstrate greater technical proficiency, independent decision-making, operational ownership, and peer leadership while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

US: Hiring Range in USD from $13.03 to $24.81 per hour; from: $27,100 to $51,600 per annum.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Key Responsibilities

Data Center Operations, Break/Fix & Hardware Maintenance

  • Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, network equipment, and related infrastructure.
  • Install, upgrade, replace, troubleshoot, and decommission server and network hardware.
  • Perform break/fix activities across server, storage, and networking platforms.
  • Execute hardware maintenance activities and component replacements following approved procedures.
  • Support deployment, upgrade, validation, and retirement activities throughout the hardware lifecycle.
  • Perform initial root-cause analysis and determine appropriate escalation paths.

Network Installation & Cabling

  • Install, label, test, validate, and maintain copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.
  • Verify network connectivity and cabling integrity using established standards.
  • Support physical network infrastructure modifications and equipment installations.
  • Assist with troubleshooting network connectivity and infrastructure issues.

Technical Support & Ticket Management

  • Monitor and respond to assigned work through ServiceNow, JIRA, or equivalent systems.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and infrastructure issues independently within established operational boundaries.
  • Document findings, corrective actions, and resolutions accurately.
  • Escalate complex technical issues with complete supporting information.
  • Consistently meet established service level agreements and operational metrics.

Inventory, Asset & Logistics Management

  • Receive, audit, track, stage, and ship equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and asset management systems.
  • Support warehouse operations, logistics activities, and material movement processes.

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Follow SOPs, MOPs, and approved change management procedures.
  • Adhere to security, compliance, and access control requirements.
  • Maintain safe, organized work environments utilizing 5S and operational excellence principles.
  • Promote safety awareness and operational discipline across assigned work areas.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and colocation partners.
  • Assist with infrastructure validation and deployment readiness activities.
  • Identify recurring operational issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support onboarding, training, and knowledge sharing for less-experienced technicians.
  • Contribute process improvement ideas that enhance efficiency, reliability, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

At least one of the following:

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Data Center Operations, or a related technical discipline; OR
  • Four (4) years of military service with relevant technical, operational, communications, logistics, aviation, electronics, maintenance, or infrastructure experience; OR
  • Two (2) years of experience in data center operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, electronics, or related fields.

In addition:

  • Strong technical aptitude and desire to advance within data center operations.
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Participants should plan to fully participate each workday for the full 12 weeks. 

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. For clarity purposes, this means that Oracle is not in a position now, or in the future, to offer US immigration sponsorship. This includes, but is not limited to, support of H-1B, TN, O-1, green card or F-1 e.g. EAD, OPT, CPT, I-20, F-1 visa stamp etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting data center or cloud infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticket management platforms.
  • Familiarity with enterprise server, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
  • Linux command-line experience.
  • Experience with RAID, fiber optics, and structured cabling systems.
  • ESD, electrical safety, ladder, powered equipment, server lift, or related certifications.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale IT infrastructure.

  • Working knowledge of server hardware, storage, and networking technologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine operational and technical issues with limited supervision.
