Job Summary/Basic Function
  • Provide academic assistance to TRIO SSS participants enrolled in Math 101, English 101, and/or Biology 103 & 104.
  • Facilitate both group and individual tutoring sessions.
  • Help students review, clarify, and apply course concepts.
  • Encourage students to develop effective study strategies and problem-solving skills.
  • Foster a supportive, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and practicing new ideas.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions as required by the TRIO program.
  • Attend tutor training sessions and meetings as scheduled.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled as a student.
  • Successfully completed (with a grade of B or higher) Math 101, English 101, and/or Biology 103/104, depending on subject(s) applying to tutor.
  • Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Prior tutoring or mentoring experience preferred but not required.
