Job description

The Opportunity

VetConnect PLUS is the most widely adopted veterinary diagnostics platform in the industry, used by over half of all U.S. veterinary practices and expanding globally. It sits at the center of the diagnostic workflow, connecting veterinarians to lab results, patient insights, and clinical decision support in ways that directly shape how care is delivered every day. That foundation is something most companies would envy.

Now we're building on it, across three dimensions at once:

Shape a new organization.

We've created a new CAG Diagnostic Software organization that, for the first time, brings together product teams spanning VetConnect PLUS, VetLab Software, MyIDEXX & CIAM, eCommerce, and Reference Lab digital experience. You'll help define how this organization operates and evolves, organizing around the domains that matter most to our customers.

Reimagine the customer experience.

VetConnect PLUS is foundational to a broader vision: a world-class, integrated diagnostic experience worthy of a world-class veterinary diagnostics company. With these teams united, we have an opportunity to converge capabilities that were built in parallel, simplify the architecture, and deliver the coherent experience our customers expect.

Transform the craft.

The era of bloated backlogs, over-refined user stories, and endless discovery cycles is over. We need a product leader who leverages AI and automation to fundamentally rethink how product management is practiced, making teams radically more efficient while raising the quality of what they deliver.

If you're energized by meaningful complexity, real customer impact, and the chance to build something better while it's already in motion, this role offers a rare combination of scale, responsibility, and transformation.

The Role

You'll own VetConnect PLUS, a mission-critical product that tens of thousands of practices depend on every day. This product must continue to deliver speed, clarity, and clinical confidence while it evolves. You'll lead an experienced, passionate product team and be accountable for global product strategy, roadmap execution, product performance, and platform adoption.

You'll also be a key member of the CAG Diagnostic Software leadership team, a group that is deeply invested in transformation and people leadership. Every leader on this team is expected to lean into the broader vision, not just their own product area. You'll operate in a product, engineering, and UX trifecta with your engineering and design co-leads, with shared ownership of strategy, execution, and outcomes. And you'll work with a leader who is invested in your growth and wants a thought partner with conviction, not someone who waits for direction.

What You'll Do

Reinvent how your team works. Lead with an AI-native operating model for product management. Move away from heavy documentation and extended refinement cycles. Emphasize clear problem framing, faster shaping, and early validation. Automate low- leverage work (discovery synthesis, requirements documentation, status reporting) and redirect your team's energy toward high-judgment, high-impact decisions.

Own and evolve VetConnect PLUS. Drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for VetConnect PLUS. Ensure the product delivers speed, clarity, and clinical confidence in daily diagnostic workflows. Balance reliability and continuous improvement in a product customers depend on every day. Drive meaningful progress without disrupting critical customer workflows.

Shape the future experience. Position VETCONNECT PLUS as a foundational layer

within a broader integrated diagnostic ecosystem. Contribute to a more seamless,

connected customer experience across IDEXX systems, working with a leadership team that shares that ambition to imagine what a world-class integrated experience looks like.

Model the trifecta partnership with your engineering and UX co-leads at every level. Co-shape solutions early rather than relying on detailed handoffs. Shared goals, joint decisions, mutual accountability. Product, engineering, and design operating as one unit.

Own business outcomes including global adoption, utilization, customer satisfaction, and revenue contribution. Partner with commercial and GTM teams to drive product- market fit and growth. Translate complex inputs into focused, high-impact product decisions.

Lead through complexity and ambiguity. Navigate a complex ecosystem of systems, data, and dependencies. Drive clarity where ownership or direction is not fully defined. Act as a thought partner in evolving how the organization works.

Build and develop exceptional talent. Lead and develop a team of product managers with strong expectations for ownership, clarity, and accountability. Attract and grow top product talent. Develop your team for the roles that are coming, not just the roles they're in today.

Who You Are

An AI-Native Product Leader

  • You will use AI to transform how product management is practiced. You've rethought discovery, automated spec generation, built AI-assisted analysis and prioritization, or fundamentally changed your team's operating model with intelligent tooling.
  • You have a clear point of view on how AI will reshape the product management
  • discipline, and you're actively building toward it, not just observing.

A Builder Who's Done This Before

  • You've led complex, customer-facing software products at scale. You know how to drive meaningful evolution within existing systems, not just greenfield builds.
  • 10+ years in software product management, with 5+ in senior or executive leadership. You've managed portfolios, not just individual products.

A True Engineering and Design Partner

  • You go deep with your engineering and UX counterparts on API strategy, service decomposition, experience architecture, and build-vs-buy trade-offs.
  • You're comfortable engaging in technical discussions and making pragmatic trade-offs across speed, quality, and long-term system health.

A Coalition Builder with Courage

  • You win hearts and minds through clarity of vision, empathy for what people are being asked to change, and consistent follow-through. When the evidence is clear, you have the courage to make hard recommendations, even when they're uncomfortable.
  • You lead with high EQ, build trust across organizational boundaries, and create safety for your team to take risks. People want to work for you because you challenge them and invest in their growth.

Even Better If You Have

  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, veterinary, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications in complex, domain-specific workflows.

Why This Role Is Different

  • A mission-critical product with massive reach. VetConnect PLUS is central to how veterinarians interact with IDEXX. The leader in this role will shape the future of that experience.
  • A leadership team invested in transformation. You'll be surrounded by leaders who care deeply about people, modern practices, and building something meaningful together.
  • The chance to define modern product management. You won't just manage a product. You'll help define how product management evolves in an AI -accelerated environment.
  • Executive commitment. C-suite sponsorship and direct engagement with senior leadership, including the executive committee.
  • A true partnership. You'll work alongside a leader who wants a thought partner with conviction, not someone who waits for direction.
