Job Title Part Time Special Faculty of Health Care Management Department Nutrition & Health Care Mgt. - 273400 Location Boone, NC Position Number 085835 Description of Department
The Health Care Management program began in 1972 and has been continuously certified by AUPHA since 1984. With over 1,400 graduates the program has a strong network of professionals working in health systems, physician practices, senior care organizations, and other health care organizations throughout North Carolina and the nation. Appalachian State University also offers an online Master of Health Administration degree that began in the fall of 2016 and is offering a new online Health Care Management program for adult learners in fall 2024. The Health Care Management program is located within the Beaver College of Health Sciences (BCHS).
Position Summary Information
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Health Administration, MBA, or related degree
Essential Job Functions
Primary instructional duties may include an introduction to healthcare systems, healthcare finance, healthcare law and ethics, human resources, leadership, and quality management in an online or face-to-face format at the undergraduate or graduate levels. Successful applicants will have a focus on teaching excellence in both the traditional face-to-face and online environments.
Instructional duties may include a teaching load of up to six credit hours of online courses per semester. Undergraduate online courses follow shortened 8-week terms, and instructors are required to engage with students online on a regular basis, as defined by course material.
Position may also require teaching in online format.
Preferred Qualifications
The department is especially interested in candidates with teaching interests in one or more of the following areas - introduction to healthcare systems, healthcare finance, healthcare law and ethics, human resources, leadership, and quality management in online or face to face format at the undergraduate or graduate level.
