Assistant Professor of Nursing Tenure Track

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: 72k - 80

Elms College, located in Chicopee, MA, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Nursing.

The full-time, tenure-track nursing faculty member contributes to the effective implementation of the nursing curriculum, ongoing program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement, while upholding the philosophy of the School of Nursing (SON) and advancing the mission of the College. Specific content needs are requested in pathophysiology, pharmacology, med-dose calculation, and clinical expertise in med-surg/leadership nursing.

Specific Responsibilities.:.

  • Serves as content expert in pathophysiology, pharmacology, medication dosage calculations, and medical-surgical and leadership clinical areas.
  • Develops syllabi and teaching strategies for assigned courses.
  • Participates in ongoing curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of a systematic evaluation plan for the BSN nursing education programs.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates policies consistent with those of Elms College.
  • Engages in classroom and clinical teaching, student learning assessment, and evaluation.
  • Serves as a faculty advisor to assigned nursing students, ensuring progress toward professional and degree requirements.
  • Pursues ongoing personal and professional development through continuing education, clinical practice, and participation in professional activities.
  • Completes an annual self-evaluation in accordance with Elms College and School of Nursing (SON) requirements.
  • Serves as a professional role model for nursing students.
  • Participates actively in standing and ad hoc committees within the College and School of Nursing.
  • Attends regularly scheduled SON and Elms College faculty meetings.
  • Participates in official academic ceremonies, including pinning, hooding, convocations, and commencement exercises.
  • Assumes responsibility for serving as course coordinator, as assigned.
  • Evaluates each course offering per SON End-of-Course Report criteria and maintains appropriate documentation within the School of Nursing.

Faculty Obligations

Following the Elms College Faculty Handbook, full-time teaching faculty members must have 24 credit hours per academic year or equivalent.

Qualifications/Criteria for Appointment

Minimum of a master's degree in nursing, while a Doctorate is preferred.

Clinical experience in a specialty field related to pathophysiology, pharmacology, med-dose calculation, and clinical expertise in med-surg/leadership nursing.

Knowledge and experience in baccalaureate nursing education
