Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tree Climber to join our landscaping business. As a Tree Climber, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing tree climbing and tree care tasks, including pruning, trimming, and removals. You will work as part of a team to maintain the health and beauty of trees on residential and commercial properties. This position requires physical agility, technical knowledge of tree care techniques, and a strong commitment to safety.
Responsibilities:
  1. Tree Climbing and Pruning:
    • Safely climb trees using appropriate climbing techniques and equipment.
    • Perform pruning and trimming to maintain tree health, shape, and appearance.
    • Assess tree structure and identify potential hazards or issues.
    • Use professional pruning techniques to remove dead or diseased branches.
  2. Tree Removal and Rigging:
    • Safely dismantle and remove trees using rigging techniques.
    • Operate chainsaws, ropes, and rigging equipment to safely lower tree sections.
    • Ensure proper disposal of tree debris and cleanup of work area.
  3. Tree Health Assessments:
    • Conduct visual assessments of trees to identify diseases, pests, or other health issues.
    • Provide recommendations for tree care and treatment options.
    • Collaborate with the arborist or tree care team to develop tree care plans.
  4. Equipment Maintenance:
    • Inspect and maintain climbing gear, chainsaws, and other tools and equipment.
    • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning to ensure safe and efficient operation.
    • Report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Follow industry best practices and standards for tree climbing and tree care.
    • Stay updated on the latest techniques, equipment, and safety guidelines in the field.
  6. Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the tree care team and other crew members to accomplish tasks.
    • Communicate effectively and follow instructions from the supervisor.
    • Assist in other landscaping tasks and projects as needed.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Tree Climber or similar role in the tree care industry.
  • Strong knowledge of tree species, pruning techniques, and tree care best practices.
  • Proficiency in climbing trees using climbing ropes, harnesses, and other climbing equipment.
  • Experience operating chainsaws and other tree care tools.
  • Ability to assess tree health and identify common diseases or pests.
  • Physical fitness and agility to climb trees and work at heights for extended periods.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Arborist or Tree Worker Climber Specialist (TWCS) (preferred).
